Stand out from the crowd

Not only does a honeymoon to Nicaragua come with epic bragging rights, it also ticks most of the requisite boxes for that memorable, once in a lifetime experience (unless this is your second or third honeymoon of course. We don’t judge).

Stunning and varied beaches, beautiful, unspoiled countryside, countless, dramatic volcanoes, numerous adventure activities, picture-postcard colonial towns and wonderful, uncommercial accommodation – Nicaragua really does have it all.

With so much to offer, another of Nicaragua’s great selling points is just how compact and easily accessible all the aforementioned highlights are. This is one adventure that need not be spent in the back of a car.

So, what sort of honeymoons do we offer to Nicaragua? Well, as all our travel arrangements are tailor made, there is no such thing as a typical honeymoon. Just as all our clients are different, so too are our honeymoons.

If all you want to do is flop and flake out at the beach then, sure, that’s no problem. Or perhaps you wish to split your time in Nicaragua between exploring and relaxing. Alternatively, you may have no interest whatsoever in the beach and wish to spend your entire honeymoon exploring this beautiful and fascinating country. Put simply, you decide and we’ll advise.

Beyond The Ordinary arrange fully bonded, tailor made holidays and tours to Nicaragua. Contact one of our experts on 01580 764796, email travel@beyondtheordinary.co.uk or contact us via our website.

Where to start?

With the build up to the wedding, not to mention the day itself, we understand that many couples might view their honeymoon, or at least the beginning of the honeymoon, as an opportunity to flop out at the beach and do very, very little.

So, even if you’re keen to explore the nation’s beautiful colonial towns and stunning countryside, it’s easy enough for couples to begin their Nicaragua honeymoon with time on one of its stunning beaches, be that on either it’s Caribbean or Pacific coastline.

Other couples may prefer to do things the other way around, ie start off their honeymoon by exploring the country and then ending up on the beach for some well-deserved R&R.

Alternatively, as with our Coast To Coast itinerary, it’s possible to bookend your honeymoon with time at the beach and spend the middle part exploring.

Exploring Nicaragua On Honeymoon

Where to explore

Deciding where to visit in Nicaragua very much comes down to personal preferences with a variety of natural and cultural attractions.

Chief amongst Nicaragua’s cultural highlights are the two, historic towns of Leon & Granada, both within easy reach of each other as well as Managua where visitors arrive and depart.

Aside from both having lots to see and do, as well as being lovely places to simply wander on one’s own, both Leon & Granada (pictured below) are great bases from which to explore their surrounding environs.

Granada Nicaragua Honeymoon

Chief amongst Nicaragua’s natural attractions must surely be its spectacular volcanoes. Some, like Masaya Volcano, are one of the few volcanoes anywhere in the world where the casual visitor can view live, lava lakes.

Other volcanoes, like Mombacho near Granada, and El Hoyo & Telica near Leon, offer great opportunities for hiking.

Hiking volcanoes, or simply gawping at their overwhelming presence, is also an option on beautiful Ometepe Island which has a wonderful, other worldly feel to it. Aside from its twin volcanoes, there are also hikes around Charco Verde nature reserve and to San Ramon waterfall as well as kayaking in along beautiful River Istian.

As you will have gathered by now, Nicaragua is a great honeymoon destination for those who wish to include a bit of soft adventure, with options for hiking, kayaking, surfing, volcano boarding, paddle boarding and more.

Characterful and stylish hotels

We understand that identifying the right accommodation plays an important in creating the perfect honeymoon experience and, while we would never claim that you will find fantastic, top end hotels right across Nicaragua, there are enough in the right places to form the basis of a memorable trip.

Examples of these include the Hotel El Convento in Leon, both the Plaza Colon & Tribal in Granada, Jicaro Eco-Lodge in the Isletas de Granada, Xalli Hotel on Ometepe Island, Yemaya Reefs on Little Corn and Morgan’s Rock on the Pacific Coast.

Perfect honeymoon beaches

Have we mentioned that Nicaragua boasts beautiful beaches on both its Pacific Coast and in the Caribbean?

If it’s swaying tropical palms, turquoise waters and Caribbean vibes that you’re after, look no further than the beautiful Corn Islands, a fun, short flight from the capital, Managua. Little Corn in particular is prime honeymoon territory, especially staying at the aforementioned Yemaya Reefs hotel (and perhaps upgrading to a room with a private plunge pool).

The Pacific Coast is very different but no less beautiful with big vistas, big waves, big everything. Both Morgan’s Rock & Rancho Santana cover over 2,500 acres each (yes, you read that right) yet neither has more than 20 rooms. If you want to combine time at the beach with cycling, hiking, surfing, kayaking, dune boarding and more, this is the destination for you.
