Hotel Villa Paraiso

Most guests will spend the day out and about exploring the island but it’s good to know that, on your return, or if you simply want to spend a lazy day doing very little, the Hotel Villa Paraiso has a small swimming pool overlooking the beach.

The beach itself stretches pretty much as far as one can see heading south and is ideal for long, almost entirely private walks as well as for cooling swims in the freshwater lake. Depending on the time of the year, aka pre or post the rains, the width of the beach can vary significantly as the lake fills up.

The hotel restaurant serves a wide variety of local and international dishes including fish from the lake. There is also a small, separate bar with a relatively wide variety of drinks on offer.

Accommodation at Hotel Villa Paraiso comprises a number of wooden cabins, some with views out over the lake and all with a small outdoor terrace.

The cabins aren’t particularly large and are simply furnished but all feature private bathrooms, a/c and safe with a choice of 1 or 2 beds.

Assuming it is working, there is an ATM on the road outside the hotel while there is a small selection of bars and restaurants a short walk north of the hotel, either along the beach or quiet road.

If you’re feeling adventurous, and wish to explore Ometepe Island on your own, it is also possible to rent quad bikes (and perhaps mopeds) from close to the hotel.
