Casa Marimba

Co-owned by three French friends – Lisa, Rafael, Iban – who fell in love with the area back in 2016, Casa Marimba has the feel of a private house in which guests are just that, guests. This really is the sort of hotel where you will soon find yourself chatting to your fellow guests over drinks and dinner.

There are just 5 rooms in total, each one different in terms of size, layout, outside space and views. The best of the rooms feature balconies and views (through the trees) towards the lake. All rooms are tastefully furnished and feature private bathrooms and a/c.

Food and drink is another of the highlights of any stay at Casa Marimba, beginning with breakfast which is included in the price.

Both lunch and dinner are available daily, with cuisine best described as a fusion of Mediterranean and Nicaraguan influences. Wherever possible, ingredients are organic and sourced locally.

Additional services at the hotel include expert, great value massages as well as yoga classes, both group and private.

While many visitors to the region stay in Granada and visit Apoyo Lagoon for the day, it is equally feasible to base oneself at Casa Marimba and visit Granada (and / or other surrounding attractions).

It is worth bearing in mind that, as Apoyo Lagoon is located within the caldera of an extinct volcano, the hotel is located on a steep-sided slope with a number of steps between the entrance to the hotel and the shoreline. Clients with any mobility issues might wish to consider alternative options.
