With so much to see and do within Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, perhaps the most important decision prospective visitors have to make is how exactly they are going to explore the region.

Escorted, group tours are one option (although not really a feature of our Mexico programme) as too are self-drive / fly-drive holidays (very much something we specialize in, such as this 2 week example).

For those clients who don’t wish to drive themselves, and who also don’t wish to travel as part of a group, we also offer entirely tailor made, private tours with Car and Driver / Guide.

When we refer to a Driver / Guide, we refer to the fact that it is just one person that will travel with clients, rather than a driver and a guide.

The Driver / Guides we work with in the Yucatan Peninsula are highly experienced guides with extensive knowledge and experience of the region as well as excellent English and good quality vehicles (yes, often a Mercedes).

Please note that all our Car & Driver / guide arrangements are for full holidays with everything provided by us, ie we can only provide the car and driver / guide where we also book clients’ accommodation.

Most holidays begin in Cancun, simply as that is by far the largest and best connected airport in the Yucatan Peninsula with flights from around the world, including direct flights from the UK.

With most international flights arriving from late afternoon onwards, clients will generally be collected at the airport by a local driver and transferred to a nearby hotel for an overnight stay. The following morning, clients will be collected from the hotel by their Driver / Guide and set off on their tour.

For clients flying into Merida, perhaps after a few days in Mexico City first, we can also arrange for their tour of the Yucatan Peninsula to start (and / or finish) there.

Unlike with self-drive holidays, where clients are largely left to their own devices when it comes to local sightseeing, all our Car & Driver holidays are fully spec’d out with a daily schedule of things to see and do, all of which are included in the price.

For those clients purely looking to explore the historic and cultural sites of the Yucatan Peninsula, the holiday will come to an end with clients being dropped back at the airport for their flight back home.

However, many of our clients wish to combine exploration with relaxation and, in this instance, your Driver / Guide will drop you off at the beach destination of your choice. A separate transfer will then be arranged back to the airport.
