Rancho Encantado
Laguna Bacalar, Mexico
Lakefront
Located directly on the western shore of Laguna Bacalar, Rancho Encantado enjoys a beautiful setting amidst extensive gardens and is a great alternative to the beach as somewhere to kick back and relax for a few days.
Laguna Bacalar itself is incredibly clear and safe to swim in but the hotel also has its own pool together with plenty of seating and hammocks to relax in.
If you wish to relax even further, the Rancho Encantado also has a wonderful, rustic spa, housed in a thatched bungalow over the lake.
As one can’t really visit Laguna Bacalar and not explore it, the hotel also has its own boat which it uses to provide lake-tours that visit the cenotes that feed the lake as well as the mangroves that are home to a wide variety of flora and fauna.
Overlooking the lake, the hotel’s casual Los Hechizos restaurant is open throughout the day and serves a combination of local Mayan and international cuisine together with an extensive selection of drinks.
Accommodation at Rancho Encantado comprises 33 bungalows that encompass 12 different categories. Aside from room size and bed type (twin or double), the main choice is between those bungalows located within the garden and those overlooking Laguna Bacalar.
