Casa Gaia
Coban, Guatemala
Tourist
The hotel’s own motto is ‘Where rest is the priority’ and, set within its own, private nature reserve, it’s something that they take seriously.
Charming little hotel with beautiful gardens on the outskirts of Coban
Located on the edge of Coban, just about within walking distance of the town centre yet away from any traffic noise, Casa Gaia only opened in 2011 and takes its name from Greek, meaning ‘House of Mother Earth’.
The actual hotel buildings are small, attractive and unobtrusive with the emphasis very much being on the natural surroundings, a combination of beautiful, well-tended gardens and native forest, home to pines, liquidambar, pepper, guava, encinos, arrayan and Guarumo trees.
On the other side of the reception, away from the rooms and overlooking the garden, is a small restaurant serving breakfast and dinner.
There are just 12, attractive, ground-floor rooms in total, with a choice of double, twin or triple beds. All rooms benefit from a patio facing out over the gardens.
