Villa Colonial
Antigua, Guatemala
Tourist
This faux colonial hotel is located in a very peaceful and picturesque setting on the edge of town and is ideal as an uncomplicated, inexpensive overnight hotel.
Faux colonial hotel ideal for an overnight stop-over
Although there are numerous buildings of interest within close proximity, the walk to Antigua’s key central attractions is probably just too far to justify staying here on a longer term basis.
The buildings at Villa Colonial are all colourfully painted and decorated in a traditional style while, at the centre of the hotel is a lovely garden and small swimming pool. Overlooking this garden is a small open-air restaurant, especially pleasant for breakfast.
The hotel itself has been designed to resemble a micro version of an Antiguan neighbourhood with the 54 rooms located in a number of 2-storey, colonial-style ‘houses’, all alongside a cobbled street.
All rooms are spacious and comfortable, although slightly dated, and most have a small terrace or balcony.
