Good Hotel Antigua
Antigua, Guatemala
Heritage
The Good Hotel Antigua offers guests contemporary, stylish accommodation with all profits being reinvested into various social projects including education and training for local children.
Sleek yet homely hotel housed within a colonial mansion
Housed within a colonial-era mansion just a short walk from the town centre, the Good Hotel Antigua is part of a Dutch based social enterprise that reinvests profits from its business into local projects.
The original building has been completely refurbished using locally sourced materials and products and offers accommodation and communal areas that, at the same time, manage to be both incredibly homely and wonderfully stylish.
At the heart of the Good Hotel Antigua is the open plan Living Room where drinks and light snacks, again locally sourced, are served throughout the day.
All meals are served at nearby Saul which offers seasonal cuisine combining both traditional Guatemalan dishes and global favourites.

In total, Good Hotel Antigua features some 22 rooms across 4 different room categories.
The entry level Pila rooms measure approximately 20sq metres and are available with either one king or twin beds. The rooms take their name, Pila, from a traditional washing sink that the hotel commissioned directly with local craftsmen while bathrooms feature a rain shower.
The Patio rooms are larger, at 27sq metres, and come with one king size bed only. Wall-to-wall glass windows open out onto a private patio, which features an outdoor rain shower as well as space to sit and relax.
The Mezzanine room measures a generous 40sq metres and resembles a loft-style apartment split across two floors. The lower level features an open plan living area together with a large bathroom while the upper level features a super king bed.
All bedrooms at the Good Hotel Antigua feature locally made wooden furniture, local works of art and organic bath products from Guatemala brand Makenna.
Service at the hotel is also amongst the most friendly and personalised in Guatemala, not surprising since all staff come from the local community having first graduated from the Good Training programme.
The same company also has accommodation in the nearby capital, Guatemala City.
