Hotel Playa Larga
Zapata & Bay of Pigs, Cuba
Beach
The extreme paucity of accommodation options within the Zapata Peninsula area means that Hotel Playa Larga is a hotel that we can offer, rather than recommend, for those keen to do more than just pass through the region.
As with many of Cuba’s older generation of hotels, the Hotel Playa Larga feels like something of a camp (holiday or military, it’s hard to say) with accommodation comprising somewhat utilitarian chalets and the restaurant giving off something of a canteen vibe.
So far, so poor, but the hotel does benefit from a really quite lovely beach and, if you’re simply overnighting, or spending the day bird-watching, there are many worse places that we’ve stayed.
In addition to the main, inside restaurant, there is a more succssful beach bar while watersports, such as catamarans and kayaks, are theoretically offered by the hotel but aren’t always available for some reason.
