Hotel Santa Isabel
Havana, Cuba
Heritage
If it’s a great location that you are after then they don’t come much better than the Santa Isabel, occupying almost one side of the Plaza de Armas, the oldest square in Old Havana, and just a few metres from the spot where the original town of San Cristobal de la Habana was founded.
As befits its location, the building that houses the Santa Isabel is also one of the most attractive in the city, having originally been the luxurious residence of the Counts of Santovenia. As with much of Old Havana, the building fell into disrepair and lay largely abandoned for many years before being taken over by Habaguanex and re-opened as a hotel in 1997.
Adjacent to the lobby area is an attractive central courtyard and elegant restaurant although there are numerous dining options nearby.
The Santa Isabel has just 27 rooms in total, all decorated in traditional colonial style. The most sought after rooms are those with a terrace.
