Situated on one corner of beautiful Plaza Vieja in the heart of Old Havana, it’s hard to believe now that the Hotel Palacio Cueto, with its ornate stone façade, was once a warehouse and hat factory.

Anyone who has been to Barcelona, and admired the works of Gaudi, will surely see numerous strong similarities with the Hotel Palacio Cueto, especially the balconies that are shaped in waves.

In the 1920s, the lease was taken on by Jose Cueto and the building was converted into the Palacio Viena Hotel. After the Revolution, for many years it lay abandoned and neglected before a complete and painstaking restoration that saw it re-open under its current name.

In addition to its architectural merit and great location, the Hotel Palacio Cueto also benefits from a lovely rooftop terrace, the ideal place to relax after a day exploring Havana’s countless attractions.

Rooms at the hotel are designed to reflect the building’s rich heritage and are comfortable rather than luxurious.

A simple breakfast is included in the rates while the hotel also features a cafe / bar. There are also countless bars and restaurants within easy walking distance.

Currently, this particular hotel is also the default Havana hotel for our 6 night group tour of Cuba.
