Villa Santo Domingo
Bayamo & Sierra Maestra, Cuba
Rustic Hideaway
Hotels within the Cuban countryside are a rare commodity and, although nothing special in terms of quality, the Villa Santo Domingo does enjoy a beautiful location.
Nestled in the forests of the Sierra Maestra, close to the River Yara, the Villa Santo Domingo serves as a comfortable base for those wanting to visit Fidel Castro’s old, revolutionary headquarters at La Plata as well as anyone wanting to hike Pico Turquino, Cuba’s highest mountain.
Facilities at the hotel are somewhat limited with a bar & restaurant but little in the way of a visitor centre or any other leisure facilities.
In truth, the hotel is largely geared towards tour groups so simply getting a room is something of an achievement.
Accommodation compises a choice between slightly bland, standard rooms and more appealing bungalow. Both types of room have ensuite facilities, a/c, phone and tv.
Itinerary Idea – Why not check out our 2 week Cuba Revolution Tour which includes a visit to La Plata and an overnight stay at Villa Santo Domingo.
